Lipscomb bests @NKUNorseBSB on Friday, 11-6

NASHVILLE - The Northern Kentucky University baseball team fell to Lipscomb on Friday by a final score of 11-6. Lipscomb is now 5-5 on the season, while NKU is 1-8.
 
AT THE PLATE  
ON THE MOUND KEY MOMENTS
  • Lipscomb took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Cade Sorrells that scored Blake Thomas.
  • The Bisons added two runs in the second. Jackson Furstace's double scored Coleman Goodwin in the inning. Furstace advanced to third on a passed ball, and he crossed the plate on Lee Soloman's single to make the score 3-0.
  • Lipscomb got two more runs in the third inning. Dodson led off the bottom half of the frame with a triple, and he scored on Sorrells' single. Sorrells also scored later in the inning.
  • In the top of the fourth inning, Moffatt and Alas hit back-to-back singles for NKU. Mercurio then stepped up to the plate and delivered a double down the left field line to score Moffatt. Alas crossed the plate in the inning on Heavilin's single to make the score 5-2.
  • The Norse scored three runs in the fifth inning. Mercurio's double to left field scored Haueter and Moffatt in the inning to get the Norse within one run. After reaching third on a wild pitch, Mercurio crossed the plate later in the inning on a single by Marik to tie the game at 5-5.  
  • Lipscomb scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take an 11-5 lead.
  • The Norse got a run back in the eighth inning when Heavilin scored on a wild pitch, but Lipscomb prevailed with the 11-6 win.
NORSE NOTES
  • Lipscomb had 15 hits in the contest, and NKU had 14.
  • The Norse stranded 10 runners on base, and Lipscomb left eight runners on base.
  • Moffatt is now on a seven-game hitting streak. He ties Haueter for the longest hitting streak by an NKU player this season.
