Cleveland State sweeps regular-season series with @NKUNorseWBB

CLEVELAND – Cleveland State defended its home court on Saturday afternoon, defeating Northern Kentucky women's basketball by a 72-49 count. With the setback, NKU falls to 5-16 overall and 3-7 in Horizon League play while the Vikings advance to 14-7 (6-4 HL).
 
STAT LEADERS
  • Molly Glick had 13 points to lead the Norse, bolstered by three 3-pointers. It marks the second time this season that she has had at least three triples in back-to-back games.
  • Chyna Anthony added 10 points off the bench, a career high against a Division I opponent.
  • Taryn Taugher chipped in eight points and dished out three assists.
  • Grayson Rose recorded the most rebounds of a Norse this season, with 13, and also added a career-best three assists to go with six points, a block and a steal.
FIRST HALF SUMMARY
  • NKU battled back-and-forth for the lead in the opening quarter, but fell behind by a 19-14 score. The Norse were able to come within two points of the Vikings multiple times throughout the remainder of the half, but Cleveland State used a 9-0 run in the final minutes to extend to a 38-27 lead.
  • Anthony and Glick both had eight points for the Norse in the opening half.
  • Cleveland State shot 50.0 percent in the half, efficiently scoring in both periods.
  • NKU out-rebounded the Vikings, 16-14, led by six boards from Rose.
 
SECOND HALF SUMMARY
  • NKU was unable to chip away at Cleveland State's lead, as the Vikings extended out to a 19-point lead heading into the final quarter.
  • The Vikings finished the game by winning all four quarters, outscoring the Norse by four in the final stanza off 40.0 percent shooting.
NORSE NOTES
  • NKU falls to 3-5 in the all-time series against the Vikings, and Cleveland State completed a sweep of the regular series over the Norse.
  • CSU scored 29 of its 72 points off turnovers, of which the Norse surrendered 25.
  • The Norse out-rebounded the Vikings, 37-35, and also assisted on 12-off-17 field goals.
  • NKU's bench scored nearly half its points.
