INDIANAPOLIS – The Horizon League announced its postseason awards on Tuesday afternoon, with Northern Kentucky senior forward
Rebecca Lyttle landing on the All-Defensive Team.
Lyttle led the Norse in blocks and defensive rebounding, averaging 1.1 rejections per game and 4.9 defensive boards on the season, while also sitting at second on the team in steals per game, with 1.1. Her numbers improved in League play, with Lyttle swatting 1.2 shots a game to rank fourth among all players, nabbing 1.4 steals per game to rank 14th, and grabbing 5.2 defensive rebounds a game to rank sixth in the League. Lyttle also plays one of the cleanest games in the League, as she commits the fewest fouls per minutes played both overall and in League games among the five All-Defensive Team honorees. In addition to her defensive stat lines, Lyttle is also the team's leading scorer and rebounder with 10.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, recording eight double-doubles this season.
"Obviously, I'm really proud of Becca and her accomplishments this year," commended head coach
Camryn Whitaker. "She's been a big part of this team, both defensively and offensively. Defense has been our staple this year; it's something we preach all the time and Becca's done a great job in her role by leading by example. She does a good job in the post - being undersized, she has to guard the biggest player on the team every day. She's a good shot blocker, she rebounds well, and she's got good timing on her jumps. It's great that she's established herself as a defensive player. She really wanted that and it was one of her goals, so I'm proud to see her make the All-Defensive Team."
Also honored on the All-Defensive Team was Hannah Little of Oakland, who was named the Defensive Player of the Year, Jenn Wellnitz and Jessica Lindstrom of Green Bay, and Amber Lindfors of Valparaiso.
