NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The Northern Kentucky University men's and women's cross country teams returned to action on Saturday at the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt. The men's squad took 19^th (453 points) while the women's team placed 23^rd (703 points) on the trails of Vaughn's Gap Cross Country Course.
 
The men's 8K race

• Andrew Schille was NKU's top finisher, placing 19^th (18 points) in a time of 25:17.80. Ryan Burrows (97^th, 86 points, 26:31.40), Alec Sandusky (126^th, 107 points, 26:49.40), Michael Mangus (143^rd, 118 points, 27:07.70), Tristan Tapia (154^th, 124 points, 27:16.60), Blake Meyer (174^th, 136 points, 27:36.70) and Jonathan Sandy (216^th, 152 points, 29:06.00) followed in order to round out the Norse scoring.
• The 8K race featured 23 teams with 228 runners on the course.
• The race was the men's team's first 8K race of the 2016 season.

 
The women's 5K

• Hannah Tobler was the top Norse, placing 160^th (130 points) in a time of 19:18.70. Jennah Flairty (170^th, 138 points, 19:29.50), Renee Svec (171^st, 140 points, 19:29.80), Kelly Burrows (174^th, 143 points, 19:33.20), Kimmy  Wolfe (184^th, 151 points, 19:44.80), Natalie Lienhart (192^nd, 155 points, 19:51.20) and Jessica Tegge (213^th, 158 points, 20:13.40) followed in order to cap off NKU's scoring.
• The 5K race featured 25 teams with 261 runner on the course.
• This was the women's team's first 5K race of the season.
