HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky men's basketball coach
John Brannen enhances an already sensational 2016-17 recruiting class with the addition of
Tre Cobbs.

"Tre is a dynamic athlete who brings speed, toughness and a winning attitude to our program," said Brannen. "He played for an outstanding coach in Frank Kill at LCC. I am excited to add Tre to an already strong 2016 recruiting class."
Cobbs joins former high school teammate
Dantez Walton as a Norse. Cobbs and Walton led their high school alma mater Lima Central Catholic (Lima, Ohio) to the Division III state championship last season. During his prep playing days at LCC, Cobbs helped lead LCC to two state titles and one runner-up finish.
The combo guard was named first-team all-state last year after averaging 19.7 points per game and closed his career as a 1,000-point scorer.
Northern Kentucky's incoming class has already been called "one of the best mid-major classes in the country for the class of 2016" by Next Up Recruits. The class also features Kentucky's Mr. Basketball
Carson Williams and finalist
Mason Faulkner, as well as Ohio's Division III AP Player of the Year in Walton. Williams and Faulkner teamed up for the Ohio-Kentucky all-star game, where they faced off against fellow signee
Jalen Tate.
NKU's fifth signee
Blake Spellman collected the DiRenna Award, which is presented by the Greater Kansas City Basketball Coaches Association to the top player in the Kansas City area.
Brandon Maxwell also signed with the team in May.
