HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky assistant athletic director
Bryan McEldowney welcomes
Chloe Smith as Assistant Athletic Communications Director, where she will help promote NKU's 17 NCAA Division I athletics programs.
"Chloe is a great addition to our department," said McEldowney. "Not only does she have the talent and skills to promote our student-athletes in today's ever-changing communication environment, Chloe also has an incredible drive and competitive spirit that was developed as a former student-athlete. Chloe is going to be a great asset to the department."
Smith spent last year at the University of Kentucky, where she assisted with the women's basketball team and led the communication efforts for the swimming & diving program as well as women's tennis. She started her career in the communications field at Eastern Michigan. While at EMU, Smith worked with the volleyball, cross country, track & field and swimming & diving programs.
"I am thrilled to join the Norse family, as I was immediately impressed with the outstanding quality of not only the communications department, but the athletic department as a whole," commented Smith. "I would like to thank
Bryan McEldowney and
Ken Bothof for welcoming me to NKU, and I look forward to helping the Norse fulfill a mission of excellence in all facets of NKU's athletic environment."
A 2011 graduate of Central Arkansas, Smith earned her undergraduate degree in digital filmmaking while being a four-year starter for the Sugar Bear volleyball team. Smith's talent on the court culminated in CoSIDA Academic All-America status, and she is also the only student-athlete in Southland Conference history in any sport to be named the SLC Player of the Year and Student-Athlete of the Year for three consecutive seasons. Following her collegiate career, she played professionally in Europe for three seasons.
Smith also has a master's degree in sport management from Eastern Michigan.
At Northern Kentucky, Smith will serve as the primary media contact for women's basketball, volleyball, softball and the men's and women's tennis programs. She will assume her role August 1.
