Thirty-two NKU student-athletes earn degrees

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY. – A total of 32 Norse student-athletes from 10 different sports earned degrees from Northern Kentucky University at graduation ceremonies over the weekend.

Commencement weekend was the culmination of another successful year in the classroom for NKU student-athletes. Of the 32 graduates, 22 earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Additionally, 11 earned at least a 3.5 GPA while 10 graduated with honors.

The Spring 2016 graduating class helped the department to a record-setting 3.24 cumulative GPA this past fall and, including this spring, its 10th-straight semester posting a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Three student-athletes earned distinguished honors at their respective ceremonies. Mel Stewart (volleyball) was named the Outstanding Student in Athletic Training, Lauren Hurley (volleyball) netted Outstanding Student in Business Administration and Brady Holmer (men's track and field) earned Outstanding Student in Exercise Science honors and University Honors Scholar recognition.
