Roush, Glick claim #HLWBB postseason honors

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University women's basketball players Christine Roush and Molly Glick were among those honored when the Horizon League announced its postseason award winners on Tuesday. Roush was named to the All-League First Team, while Glick was tabbed for the All-Freshman Team.

"We're all very excited for Chris and our program; this is a great honor and a great way for her to cap off the regular season in her senior year," said head coach Dawn Plitzuweit. "Chris has worked diligently throughout her career to continue to improve on both ends of the court and was recognized for those efforts by the League."

Roush, a senior guard from Louisville, Kentucky, stands as one of the top 10 scorers in Norse history, having amassed over 1,400 points in her career. During the 2015-16 season, she has consistently ranked in the top three in the Horizon League in scoring, averaging 16.8 points overall and in League play. One of the most dangerous long-range shooters in the League, Roush ranked third, connecting on 40.2 percent of her three-point tries. Additionally, her 2.8 made three-pointers per game leads the Horizon League. Roush has also been automatic from the charity stripe, connecting on 92.1 percent of her free throws to lead all Division I players.

Earlier this season, Roush was named the College Sports Madness Horizon League Player of the Week on Feb. 1 after averaging 19.5 points in road wins against Cleveland State and Youngstown State. Roush is a two-time Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic Team selection and was named to the A-Sun All-Conference Second Team last year.

Glick, a freshman forward from Fostoria, Ohio, made an instant impact for the Norse this season, starting 26 of her 28 games and averaging 6.3 points and 2.5 rebounds per contest. In League competition, Glick knocked down 40 percent of her three-point chances, ranking second on the team in long-range efficiency. Glick was also named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week on Nov. 23 after averaging 9.5 points and four rebounds in games against Cincinnati and Marquette.

"Molly has had a very strong freshman season and it's great to see that her efforts are rewarded with this recognition," added Plitzuweit. "We look forward to her continued growth and development throughout her career here at NKU."

The Norse have their sights set on Green Bay, Wisconsin, and the Horizon League Championship, which opens on March 10 at the Kress Events Center. NKU enters as the No. 5 seed and will take on the No. 8 seed Cleveland State in the first round. Tip time is set for approximately 2:30 p.m. Central (3:30 p.m. Eastern), with the action carried live on ESPN3.
