HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball's signing day series continues with 6-foot-1 forward Chyna Anthony out of New Albany, Indiana.
Head coach
Camryn Whitaker explained that Anthony will elevate the team's athleticism, saying, "she is a pure athlete, can dunk a tennis ball. So I'm excited, because that gives us something different. Not that our other kids aren't athletic, but Chyna just brings a different level of athleticism. She can really run the floor, she rebounds, she can play defense against anybody. It doesn't matter their size because she can jump so well. Her timing for blocking shots is really good. I like what Chyna brings us, because it's something different that we don't have, and I think there's definitely a spot for that on the floor."
Anthony is a tri-sport athlete for the New Albany Bulldogs, playing soccer in the fall while competing in track and field in the spring. She showed vast improvement from her sophomore season into her junior campaign, averaging 3.6 points and 3.7 rebounds per game as a sophomore to 8.2 ppg and 8.5 rpg last year, along with 1.3 blocks per game, and was named the Impact Player of the Year in 2015. The Bulldogs advanced to the semifinals of the IHSAA Class 4A Section 15 Tournament, falling to Jeffersonville by four points. In the offseason, Anthony plays for Indiana Flight South under coach Mark Landis.
NKU's signing day series wraps up tomorrow with Kentucky native Kailey Coffey.
