@NKUNorseWBB Signing Day: Jazmyne Geist

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.
– Northern Kentucky women's basketball's signing day series continues with 5-foot-11 Jazmyne Geist, a forward out of Fort Wayne, Ind.

Head coach Camryn Whitaker said about Geist, "Jazmyne is a hard-nosed, tough, 5-foot-11 inside player that really scores well and is aggressive around the basket. Although she's undersized, she brings a level of toughness, and she just flat out knows how to win. Her high school team is amazing. They have a really good team and are well-coached. And that means a lot for me, to have a player coming in who already understands what it is to win. Jazmyne can give us quality time at the four position. She can run the floor, she can defend. She's just a tough kid. We need that in the post. Our posts need to be able to play a hard five minutes and then we can bring somebody else in so they can play a stretch."

Geist comes with a winning pedigree as a part of the Indiana powerhouse Homestead High School team, ranked by MaxPreps.com as the No. 40 team in the nation. The Spartans went a combined 53-6 in Geist's first two years on the varsity squad, advancing to the Indiana 4A state championship game during her sophomore year and falling in the semis to eventual champion Penn by just five points last season.

Last season, Geist averaged 9.6 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Spartans, shooting at a .510 clip from the field. She is also an effective defensive performer, posting more than a steal per contest. Geist hit double-figure scoring 17 times during her junior campaign, and had a strong game in the state semifinals against Penn with 12 points shooting 71.4 percent from the floor to go with eight rebounds.

NKU's signing day series continues tomorrow with Kentucky native Grace White.
