HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky women's basketball continues to add size to the 2017-18 roster with 6-foot-3 signee Grayson Rose out of James A. Garfield High School in Garrettsville, Ohio.
 
Head coach Camryn Whitaker explained, "First of all, her love for NKU is amazing. She loves this place. And I think there's a lot to be said about something like that. Not only that, she's 6-foot-3. She's got great hands. She runs the floor well. She's strong. She can really score around the basket and she can also stretch the floor and shoot it some. That's something we'll want to continue to develop in her game. But she's an aggressive rebounder, she's a competitor, and that's what I love about her. She wants to come in and compete and play, and I expect her to give us some quality time next year."

Rose has been an All-Portage Trail Conference selection in each of her three seasons at Garfield and was named the Portage Trail Player of the Year in 2016. Her list of accolades continue as a three-time all-district selection, an All-Ohio special mention as a sophomore, and an all-state third team nod last year. She is an effective scorer and rebounder, averaging a double-double since her rookie campaign under coach Aaron Gilbert.
 
Rose has played an integral part in helping to turn what was previously a 1-20 program five years ago into a district title-winning team. Last year, Garfield went 19-6 led by an impressive stat line from Rose. She posted 18.5 points and 13.8 rebounds a game, and also dished out more than two assists per contest. Additionally, Rose is an accomplished volleyball player and has helped the G-Men to a similar success as the basketball program this season, with the team winning its first district title since 1995.
 
In the offseason, Rose plays for Team Huddle, coached by Rich Harland, and has earned US Junior National All-Star honors in each event in which she has played.
