Stetson spoils A-Sun opener for NKU men's tennis

DELAND, Fla.- The Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to undefeated Stetson University on Thursday afternoon in the Atlantic Sun Conference opener for both teams.
 
In doubles, Stetson picked up victory in a close match. Stetson's Laurynas Antropikas and Hans Adrian Riseng defeated Berman and Pierce Kohls in an 8-5 finish. Didrik Berg and Simon Julin succeeded against NKU's Cameron Johnson and Jody Maginley and Chester Espie and Nathan Debut defeated Andre Correa and Jimmy Caccamo, both in a 8-2 finish.
 
Guillaume Berman took the only NKU match victory against Berg after Berg was forced to retire with Berman having won the first set, 6-1. Stetson swept the rest of singles.
 
Stetson took its ninth consecutive win.
 
NKU (3-8, 0-1 A-Sun) play their next match on the road at Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday, March 16.
