NKU track & field teams compete in split action to prep for GLVC Championships

GVSU Big Meet results | DePauw men's results | DePauw women's results

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The Northern Kentucky University track and field teams enjoyed a productive weekend in split action.  Most of the team was in Greencastle, Ind., for the DePauw Invitational, while a select group ran at the Grand Valley State Big Meet in Allendale, Mich.

On the women's side at DePauw, a pair of school records fell as Jen Beck bested her own school record in the 400m by better than a half-second, clocking a 1:06.48.  Additionally, Kristina Hinch set a new mark in the shot put with a throw of 11.62m to claim seventh in the event.

Lindsay Mumley also claimed team points for the Norse, finishing fourth in the 3000m run with a time of 11:29.92.  In total, the Norse claimed 10 points to post an 11th place result.

For the men, junior Kevin Bonfield showed his upperclassman leadership by placing fourth in the one mile run.  He ran a 4:29 mile, finishing only five seconds behind the leader.

Freshman Matt Kincaid and junior Ricky Harm earned team points for the Norse with a seventh and eighth-place finish, respectively, in the 3000m run. Kincaid recorded the fastest time for the Norse, posting a time of 9:02, with Harm right behind him at 9:06 to claim a personal best.

The men scored eight points as a team.

At the GVSU Big Meet, Brendan Chwalek (15:17.56) and Kayla Justice (18:59.15) blew away their personal records in the 5000m run.

The Norse now look forward to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Championships, to be held at Wisconsin-Parkside on Feb. 24-25.
