HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Northern Kentucky University softball coach
Kathy Stewart is pleased to announce the signing of Alyssa Enrique to a national letter of intent for the 2014 season.
Enrique, a senior at American Heritage School in Plantation, Fla., helped lead the Patriots to a Florida state championship in class 5A during her junior campaign, posting a 5-1 record with a 1.11 earned run average in 57 innings of work in the circle. Enrique struck out 65 batters on the year and walked only nine. Her performance on the season earned her recognition as an All-Broward County team honorable mention by the Sun Sentinel of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
“Alyssa is a great competitor with a strong work ethic,” said Stewart. “She adds depth to our pitching staff and can play other positions as well. We are excited about her becoming a Norse!”
The Norse, now entering their inaugural season of NCAA Division I play, finished the 2012 campaign with a 38-21 record and advanced to the NCAA Division II Midwest Super Regional tournament. NKU will open its 2013 season at the Georgia State Panther Invitational with a doubleheader against Presbyterian on Feb. 16 in Decatur, Ga.
