NKU's Kim Nemcek (8) earned All-GLVC honors for the second straight season.
INDIANAPOLIS – Three Northern Kentucky University volleyball players have earned All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors, the league office announced Thursday.

NKU middle hitter Kim Nemcek was named to the All-GLVC first team, while outside hitter Noelle Peterson and setter Jenna Schreiver were each selected to the second team.

Nemcek, a junior from Geneva, Ill., leads the GLVC in kills per set at 3.88. Nemcek has 439 kills this season, and she is attacking at a .319 clip. The 5-foot-11 middle hitter also leads NKU with 89 total blocks and is second on the team with 252 digs. This marks the second straight year Nemcek has been named to the All-GLVC first team.

Peterson, a sophomore from Milwaukee, Wis., is second on the team with 353 kills. A graduate of Brookfield East High School, Peterson averages 3.12 kills per set.

Schreiver, a freshman from Edgewood, Ky., has recorded 1,186 assists this season. The Notre Dame Academy graduate averages 10.50 assists per set and is third on the team with 35 service aces.

Lewis outside hitter Stephanie Sagat was named GLVC Player of the Year, while the Flyers’ Lorelee Smith was tabbed GLVC Coach of the Year. Kristina Kerrigan of Indianapolis was named GLVC Freshman of the Year.

NKU meets Rockhurst in the first round of the GLVC Tournament Friday at 6 p.m. The GLVC Tournament is being held at Romeoville, Ill., and hosted by top-seeded Lewis. NKU (20-11 overall, 10-4 GLVC) enters the event as the No. 4 seed, while Rockhurst (20-13 overall, 9-5 GLVC) is the No. 5 seed.

The winner of the GLVC Tournament will receive an automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament. NKU defeated Rockhurst on the road earlier this season, taking a five-set decision against the Hawks in Kansas City, Mo.
